Front cover of "50 Years of News Photography in Los Angeles" (December 1952; actual size approx. 8.4 x 11.0 in. (21.2 x 27.9 cm.)). This 72-page, spiral-bound book was the first significant publication by the Los Angeles Press Photographers Association, and a precursor to its annual journal "Just one more!", the first edition of which appeared in June 1954. The unusual cover drawing is by Sam Patrick, a staff artist at the Los Angeles Times. (Interestingly, Patrick also drew this portrait of my father at almost exactly the same time. Click the link just above for some information on the artist's background.) To the best of my knowledge, this is the only reproduction of this cover to have ever been posted online.
